Vampire Games by Tiffany Allee

Otherworlder Enforcement Agency #4

She’s seen the past…
OWEA Agent Beatrice Davis is haunted by the death visions that help her solve crimes. When Detective Claude Desmairis, her vampire ex-lover, asks for her assistance on a case, she’d rather help him than take the mandated leave to stave off her burn-out.

The truth won’t stay buried…
Pressed to solve a series of crimes before the perpetrator blows the vampire world apart, Claude turns to a woman he thought he’d been able to leave behind. But he was wrong, and his feelings for her will only bring trouble in an investigation this dangerous.

As their passions reignite, they see a possible future together. Until her visions show her the face of the murderer—a man Claude can never betray.

Ghosts of Kingston Cottage by Libby Bishop

She believes in ghosts.

Medium and paranormal investigator Arabella Pierce is sent with her crew to Kingston Cottage, a haunted Maine seafarer’s cottage on an isolated island, but for this investigation, her boss has stuck them with skeptical reporter Lucas Brown. Though he’s hot as they come, Arabella can’t trust a man whose sole job is to discredit her and the work she does. Not after what happened with the last few skeptics...

He believes in evidence.

But Lucas isn’t as skeptical as he seems—he wants the truth, no matter what that is. When the ghosts appear, he and Arabella must work together—in tight quarters—to convince the resident ghosts to move on before a storm strands the entire crew on the island. If Arabella can put aside her prejudices, she and Lucas just might have a shot at a lifetime.

Ghost of the Falls by Sarah Gilman

Determined to prove she’s fit for the family business, exorcist Jade Clarence knows the assignment waiting in Maine is her last chance. Born into a family of exorcists, Jade’s unorthodox ideas have gotten her into trouble in the past...and cost the life of a client.

After haunting a Maine state park for more than a century, Dutch Hutchinson will do whatever it takes to bring an end to his unfulfilling existence. When an act of arson brings a beautiful exorcist to town, Dutch takes corporeal form in order to spend his last hours in her company.

Jade quickly uncovers Dutch’s true identity and finds herself falling for the man behind the spirit. But when Jade’s legacy threatens their future, they will have to overcome the greatest of odds—life and death.

Less Than Perfect by Kelly Jensen

Mikayla’s read every book in her collection of post-apocalyptic novels at least twice. She thinks she’s prepared for aliens taking over Earth. She’s not.

Nor is she prepared for the attention of a good-looking refugee named Reg.

All Mikayla and Reg want is a safe place to see out the end of the world, hidden away from the aliens that call themselves The People, but cities of the depopulated United States not infested with The People are rife with gangs, the detritus of civilization and disease.

On a mission to restock their supplies, Mikayla and Reg are captured by The People and prepared for the procedure that will make them perfect, but no longer quite human. In order to escape, they need to rely on each other…if Mikayla can trust a man who seems too good to be true.

Far Too Tempting by Lauren Blakely

 Synopsis:
Jane Black has written the break-up album of the century, earning her a Grammy, a huge legion of new fans, and the pressure to repeat her success. Sure, the heartbreak from her husband’s unconventional abandonment might have been her inspiration, but it hasn’t done her any favors in the dating department. So when Matthew Harrigan, the toughest music journalist out there, asks for an interview, Jane agrees—as long as her personal life is completely off-limits.

British, gorgeous, and way too tempting, Matthew’s the first guy Jane’s been attracted to since her husband. As she spends more time with him and their relationship heats up, though, so does her writer’s block. How can the queen of the break-up pen the perfect follow-up when she’s seriously in love?

*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

Ok I’m just gonna start off by saying if you haven’t yet read any of Lauren Blakely’s books, what are you waiting for?! I discovered “Caught Up in Us” in the early Spring and completely fell in love with  Lauren’s style of storytelling. So with this newest I’ve now read all of her stuff and I gotta say they keep getting better!! The way Lauren has of painting the picture of not only the characters themselves but the environment in which they live is so real and full of detail, you can get the visual that much clearer. Plus she’s just an awesome chick!

Far Too Tempting is the story of Jane Black, a broody soulful rocker that has landed her biggest and most successful album with songs that she penned following the demise of her marriage. It was obvious from the beginning that Jane seemed a bit overwhelmed not only by all the success that came when she was just trying to make sense of heartbreak that for her came out of nowhere, but also trying to figure out what’s next in both life and love. While the story is definitely about romance, it’s also about trust and finding oneself and as Jane is reminded “getting out of your own way”. Jane states “I don’t know how to trust anyone, even my own instincts, so I desperately need a barometer. My compass is so far out of whack that I don’t know what’s up or down anymore”.

When we are introduced to the delicious Matthew Harrigan you know he’s gonna be yummy when Jane remembers that her friend once called him “eminently lickable”.  He’s British, or English as Matthew likes to correct Jane, and he’s totally hot! Jane likes Matthew, Matthew likes Jane. These points are evident even in their first encounter in the opening chapter; but Matthew is a music critic and Jane is a musician so tension is bound to ensue. And does it ever!  (Hello fruit references as foreplay? Lol)

The story ensues as Matthew gets Jane to agree to let him follow her thru the process of creating her next album. This is terrifying for Jane because after all the success and the ease of which her last album flowed out of her, she has found herself stuck. She’s a songwriter who can’t seem to write a song, she’s lost her muse. But what’s she’s found is Matthew. And as she finds herself agreeing to spend so much time with him, she finds herself more and more attracted to him and to the hope he represents. But at the same time Jane is so scared of getting her heart broke again, of trusting any man again. She knows what she wants, but is afraid to look for it, to try for it. She wants “someone to want me. I want to be desired. I want to be admired. I want to be adored.”  I think Matthew senses this about Jane and he wants her just as much as she wants him.

Far Too Tempting was all I really love in a good romance. Strong connections, strong characters, smexy encounters and great wit! I love the way Lauren told this story, from the weaving of the awesome musical references to the way Jane had to find her mojo again. This was a ROCK STAR of a read and I can’t wait to see what’s next from the awesome Ms. Blakely and what yummy Blakely Boy we get to enjoy next!
*5 stars*

Favorite Quotes and Scenes from Far Too Tempting
+ “Pain has a funny way of subsiding eventually, so you can survive. It has a way of not suffocating you every single day. Sure, some days you’re still blindsided by a memory, a feeling, a song.”
+”But you said you’d love me
You said you’d stay with me
 And now I’m that girl
Saying those words
…the song, it does this thing to me – every time I sing it, I feel like it stitches me up a little more, like the music heals my heart bit by bit. Maybe the music is why I’ve started to move on. Music mends.”
+”Please don’t fuck with my heart.”
+”I would want to take you out. Much like how I want to kiss you.”
+I hear the word amazing press into my brain. Amazing lips, amazing kiss, feels amazing, you’re amazing. At one point I actually murmur the word in his mouth. Kissing him is like a Chris Isaak song. It’s not frenzied or frantic or a mad dash to the end. It’s slow and unhurried, dreamily unfolding over and oer. It’s desire stretching out.
His lips exploring mind, his tongue tangling with mine, his hands lacing through my hari. His sexy sighs that tell me he’s savoring this kiss as much as I am. He brings me closer, his long, lean frame terribly close to mine. For a brief second, I can feel him pressed against my thigh, and it’s thrilling to elicit this kind of reaction from a man. Arousal.
+”you smell so good. What the hell is it that you’re wearing You smell like a tropical island.”
I can hardly think straight, Um it’s this loction. Coconut Dream is the name.”
“Mmm”, he whispers, “It’s insanely fucking sexy. But then, everything about you is.”
+”You need to stop talking about fruit as if it’s foreplay”
+”Everything I say to you is true. I would never lie to you or manipulate you. You have to know that. I wouldn’t do that to anyone. But I also know what you’ve been through, and I would never toy with your feelings, he says, then slips his hand inside my coat, wrapping his fingers around my waist, and lowers his voice even more. “You really don’t know how much I want you? Because there aren’t enough adverbs to describe how much. Insanely, immensely, ridiculously. I could go on.”
+”I want to break down your resistance,” I whisper. He tenses momentarily, then cups my chin, so I’m looking at him. “What do you mean?”
I throw caution to the wind and let the words spill out, holding his gaze the entire time. “Writer’s block or no writer’s block, I just want to touch you. It’s driving me crazy not to I want to take off your clothes, and I want to feel you all over. I want my hands on your body. I want to know how you respond to me. I want to taste you. I want to take you in my mouth.”
“Fuck,” he says.
“Can I?” I look him in the eyes, needing this so desperately. “I want you to come undone for me.”
“I’m going to tell you something about straight men,” he says, and then he swallows. “when you’re into a woman, and she says she wants to give you a blow job, there’s never any answer but yes. And now. An let me go hail a fucking cab immediately.”
+”Breasts are literally one of the greatest inventions ever. Seriously. I can’t even imagine a world without them. I would die”
+”But you’re more than a beautiful body and a beautiful woman. You’re you. And I’m kind of crazy about you.”
+There comes a time when healing is simply a choice, when moving forward is a choice. You choose to love, you choose to commit, you choose to be faithful. I choose to heal.
+”You are fit. It’s like the English equivalent of hot. If she’s really hot, like you are, we say she’s fit as fuck. You are fit as fuck, Jane Black.”
+(from her fortune cookie) “You will find answers when you stop looking”
+”I am reminded for one the many reasons I love Matthew – the way he teases, the way he knocks things down a few notches, even in the middle of a serious moment.”
+”If I were a scientist, I would know what this was, if I were a scientist, I could dissect love.”

Happy Release Day: Beautiful Oblivion by Addison Moore

Beautiful Oblivion Synopsis:

From the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Addison Moore:

Some people just don’t belong together, or at least that’s the world would have them believe.

It was supposed to be just for the summer…

Reese Westfield comes from a world of old money, country clubs, cotillions, and expensive cars. She’s tired of dating Warren McCarthy just to make her father happy. Reese has long since had her eye on someone else, and this summer she’s determined to make it happen.

Growing up in Lake Loveless there has always been a strict monetary divide—there was the rest of the Lake and then there were the Waterman’s. Ace Waterman has worked for everything he has, and he doesn’t have a lot. He breaks his back doing grunt work while putting himself through college. He’s used to life passing him by.

Reese has loved Ace from afar for as long as she can remember. The summer of her freshman year she comes home with plans to land Ace in her bed at least for a few short weeks, and, if she’s lucky, forever.

Ace has loved Reese for as long as he can remember, but their friendship has never graduated beyond platonic, so when Reese comes home from her first year away and proposes the two of them have a summer fling, Ace is quick to comply. The rules: no strings, no expectations, just something hotter than the sun to set the sheets on fire.

But when their worlds collide, and neither of them is willing to admit to having true feelings, it becomes clear to Ace he’s nothing more than a dirty little secret—that the summer fling was just something meaningless to pass the time.

Reese wonders if she can ever stop trying to please her father, and it’s only through her mother’s letters that she finds the answers she truly seeks, but will they be the ones she wants to hear?

As summer draws to a close, Ace and Reese are still very much enraptured even though the time has come to douse the flame and move on—but neither one of them is prepared to leave this BEAUTIFUL OBLIVION.
