Welcome to the This Wicked Rush Blog Tour!!
We have a fun list of Gabe-isms for you, and don't forget to enter the giveaway at the bottom...

THIS WICKED RUSH (Wild Rush Book 1)

“You know what I like, Caitlin. You know I want you to beg for it.”

Gabe

I’ve never been the kind of person to give up on something I want. Now, I refuse to take no for an answer. I want this girl. I want to help her, and sleep with her, and steal things with her, and make her laugh the way she did right that night in her friend's car. We’re going to have a summer neither of us will ever forget, and by the time we go our separate ways, she’ll have enough money to go to college, and I will have had her…every way I want her.

Caitlin

I’m starting to forget why it’s a bad idea to get in any deeper with a boy who is a walking, talking contradiction. A boy who has a taste for breaking the law, a wicked way with words, and a confident touch that leaves no doubt he’s way more experienced than I am. I’ve spent my life putting aside my own needs and cleaning up after other people’s mistakes. Now, I want to make a mistake of my own.

I know I’m playing with fire, but for Gabe I'm willing to beg to be burned.

THIS WICKED RUSH is an edgy, sexy, boundary-pushing read intended for readers over the age of seventeen. The book features graphic love scenes, violence, strong language, and thieves in love. Read at your own risk.

"A steamy, high-octane love story that will have you wondering how far you'd go if you stopped playing by the rules. And may even make you want to step over the lines.” –New York Times Bestselling Author, Lauren Blakely

Check out the list of Gabe-isms!! Makes you want to meet him....

Gabe on what to do when you’re feeling tempted:

I’ve never been good at doing what I should. I don’t resist Temptation, I throw him a big, loud party and invite Trouble to D.J.

Gabe Alexander on the importance of good nutrition:

“I want to have you for dinner,” I say, fingers tightening in her hair.

“We agreed,” she says, breath coming faster. “No other stuff.”

“After we leave my parents’ house.” I press a kiss to her throat, where her pulse leaps beneath her skin. “We didn’t say anything about making out in the guest bathroom.”

Gabe on the best way to spend a summer vacation

“I want to make you come every day, at least once a day,” he continues, tracing a lazy pattern on my thigh with his fingertip. “I want to give you the best summer of your life, and by the end of it, I want you to have enough money that you won’t have to work when you go back to school.”

Gabe on the need for air conditioning:

“I couldn’t care less about the mess,” I say. “But it’s fucking miserable in here.”

She turns back to me with a falsely sympathetic look. “Oh, poor baby. Don’t worry; you won’t melt. You’re not that sweet.”

“But you are.” I grin as I reach out, snagging her ponytail and giving it a tug as I push her against the refrigerator, dropping my lips to the sweat-slick skin of her throat. “In fact, I think you’re already melting.” I kiss up her neck toward her ear, growling when she pushes me away.

Gabe on love:

I hadn’t even been sure I had a heart, at least not the way other people did. I thought I would always be on the outside of that type of emotion, too warped around the edges to fit with someone as perfectly as Caitlin and I fit.

Gabe on forever:

I just keep repeating that I love her, and believe in her, and that I will love her forever.

“Forever,” I whisper into her hair as I cradle her close. “Until men are fairy tales, and the world goes up in a ball of fire.”

Amber's Review:

4.50 Sexy and Twisty Star Review by Amber Presley Boyd
After reading One Wild Night, the prequel to This Wicked Rush I knew that this was going to be unlike any of the books I had read from Jessie Evans before (and if you haven’t read it I urge you to go get it for FREE and see how Gabe and Caitlin’s adventures begin)! This is not your ordinary romance, but man does it keep your attention. I will tell you up front that there is a cliffhanger and that Jessie will be continuing Gabe and Caitlin’s story in the upcoming One Perfect Love. I’m not going to reveal any spoilers either, but I will say that this story took me by surprise and there was laughter, suspense and tears.
“Anything can be done with people who love you by your side.”
Caitlin Cooney is a fighter, a survivor and a nurturer. She has taken on the responsibility of raising not only her three younger brothers but her young niece, leaving a scholarship to an exclusive prep school during her junior year to work two jobs to support the family. She doesn’t date, she rarely does anything for herself and most of the time she is more stressed out than someone twice her age trying to figure out how to keep a roof over their heads, food in their bellies and the young kids out of the system. But despite all these hardships and the support of a couple of really good friends, Caitlin is a bit scared and a bit lonely even if she won’t completely admit it. So when Gabe, who she knew in high school, and she share one wild night and he offers one crazy proposition things in Caitlin’s world change in unseen ways.
Gabe Alexander is an ass. He is a player. He is everything rich, spoiled and a total contradiction of it all behind that façade. Gabe has had it all handed to him all his life, everything but feeling wanted and loved. Though that is not how Gabe presents himself and not what he thinks he wants he knows he wants Caitlin. What starts as him trying to exact some justice on some scumbags his defense attorney father has gotten off, it becomes oh so much more as Caitlin becomes first his partner in crime and then “his everything”.
“…none of us truly know what we’re capable of until we’re put in an impossible situation, until we step over the line and realize things aren’t so very different on the other side after all…”
Caitlin and Gabe are sizzling together. They feed off each other and while Gabe brings out the fierceness in Caitlin, being with Caitlin brings out the caring and wanting for more that Gabe professes he never wants. They are supposed to only be together for the summer and by the end of it go their separate ways, Gabe back to school and Caitlin with enough financial security to stop killing herself and be able to go to college. However the best laid plans and all that. As much as Caitlin wants to resist Gabe she can’t and hasn’t been able to since that first night, and maybe just maybe Gabe wants more from Caitlin than just a “fake girlfriend or a partner in crime”. What they find together is exhilarating, thrilling and scary as hell but it just might be the best love that either of them never knew they needed. Can’t wait to see what Jessie does to me in the follow up to this one because TWR was just that a complete and total rush of emotions!!

Blog Tour: Hot for You by Jessie Evans

Too hot to handle…

Faith Miller has faith in two things—her surrogate firehouse family, and her own two hands—and she needs a man in her life like a fish needs a bicycle. Growing up watching her mom get used and discarded by one deadbeat boyfriend after another has left Faith jaded, and determined not to fall into the same trap. But when Mick Whitehouse moves back to Summerville, Faith’s happy, single life is turned upside down. The hunky carpenter is a far cry from the little boy she used to wrestle with on the playground in elementary school. Mick’s all grown up, tempting as sugar coated sin, and determined to seduce Faith into forgetting all her rules.

One kiss under the mistletoe and Mick Whitehouse knows that he wants Faith Miller. Bad. After years of lukewarm relationships with the wrong kind of girls, Mick is powerfully drawn to Summerville’s only female firefighter, and determined not to let her push him away. Beneath Faith’s tough exterior is a heart of gold, and the chemistry between them is four-alarm hot. But just as he finally convinces Summerville’s most confirmed bachelorette to take a chance on love, an old girlfriend waltzes into town and drops a bombshell in Mick’s lap.

As Faith and Mick come to terms with the shocking news, Faith must choose: let fear of repeating her mother’s mistakes send her running, or have faith in the man she’s come to love?

Amber's 5 Star Review:

I am loving this series from Jessie Evans!! In this second of the Fire & Icing series we have the story of Faith Miller and Mick Whitehouse. Faith is content, sort of, to continue living by her rules to not depend on anyone least of all a man. She grew up watching her mother do this and has vowed that she will never lose herself to anyone else. She is the lone female firefighter in town and fiercely independent and private. Mick too is private but for different reasons; one because his sisters Naomi and Maddie are trying to be in his business but two because he has been burned by his last relationship and isn't looking for anything serious. But he's drawn to Faith, and after the scorching kiss they shared at the Fireman's Ball Mick is determined to get to know Faith better.

Faith and Mick have known each other since elementary school, but as Faith says "Mick's all grown up, tempting as sugar coated sin" and he is "determined to seduce Faith into forgetting all her rules..."
So despite the heat that is between them, Faith is resistant and Mick is more than determined to "have her and get her out of his system". Though he finds that the more he is with Faith, the more he wants her for more than just a quick anything.

I loved seeing the interaction between these two characters! Loved how Mick is learning to love Faith "just as she is" and that Faith, despite her fears is learning that Mick doesn't want to change her but wants to be her partner. Faith is an anti-princess and scoffs at the notion of anyone "saving" her and Mick tries hard to get her to see that though he wants to help her he knows she's capable of saving herself. In many ways Faith is saving him and they are each others heroes in many ways. Mick has had his fill of being with a "damsel in distress" as his psycho ex proves.

Jessie is getting better and better in each book, the heat and intensity in this one was great! I loved all the ways that the story weaves other Summerville characters and we get a sneak at Maddie and Jamison, who I think are going to be even hotter!! Each of her books adds a bit more sweetness and heat. And I have come to know that I will always be smiling, laughing and in some cases fanning myself!!

One of my favorite lines is at the end and Faith has realized that what she and Mick have found is more than a blessing. "After years of being so certain, so sure, so convinced that love was never going to find its way into her lonely corner of the world, sometimes the happiness she'd found with Mick was almost painful. It was like medicine applied to a wound, hurting as it healed, but a blessing, no doubt about it..."

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review, but seriously this is an outstanding read! Go get it today and if you haven't met the rest of Summerville, GA check them all out they are that good!

Melt with You Blog Tour. Amber's Interview with author Jessie Evans.

Today we are spotlighting Jessie Evans. I was introduced to Jessie’s work by the ultra-fabulous Lauren Blakely a few months ago. Lauren thought I might like Jessie’s books in her “Always a Bridesmaids” series and she was so spot on. After exchanging a few emails Jessie and I discovered we actually grew up within 30 minutes of each other!! She sent me a couple of arcs and I fell in love with her sweet and getting sexier stories!! So getting to do this interview and share a little bit of her with y’all is a real treat that I hope y’all enjoy as much as I did doing it! So without further ado….

Amber: What is the first book you read that made you fall in love with books?

Jessie:  "Little Women." I checked it out from the library the summer before second grade and read it four times in a row. I was IN LOVE with all the sisters. I think that's part of the reason I still like writing about close families. That first experience with a tight literary family made a big impression.

A:  When did you decide to start writing and what was the first story about?

J:  I wrote my first romance when I was still in elementary school (I was a fan as soon as I snagged my first Jude Deveraux from my mother's book shelf). It was a medieval historical and I think I got up to chapter six before I quit. I started seriously pursuing a career as a romance writer in 2005 and was published under a different pen name nine months after I finished my first manuscript.

A:   What inspires you?

J:  Everything! The news, family, friends, music, movies, long walks, driving thirty minutes to the good grocery store in the big city (I live in a tiny river town). I don't find it hard to get inspired.

A:   Since we both grew up in the same part of Arkansas, what do you miss about home?

J:  I miss being close to family and friends and being able to be there to hold all the new babies. Seeing pictures on Facebook just isn't the same. I do not miss the mosquitoes big enough to carry a girl away, however. Northeast Arkansas can keep those suckers.

A:  How did you create Summerville? Did being a Southern girl at heart play a part? (I have to say I love stories set in the South!)

J:  Being from the South definitely played a part--I loved growing up in a part of the country where it's normal to smile and say howdy to strangers at the store--but in Summerville I could create a kinder, gentler small town, one where people care about each other and work together and nothing REALLY bad happens.

A:   Do you listen to music while you write? And if so have there been songs that have inspired story ideas?

J:  I don't often listen to music while writing the Summerville books--I write them too quickly and music tends to slow me down/distract me--but I did listen to "Would You Go With Me" by Josh Turner now and then while writing the Fire and Icing series. I love his deep voice and that song is so sweet.

A:  Cooking has been a theme in both the 'Always a Bridesmaid' and 'Fire and Icing' series; do you like to cook? And if so what's your favorite dish?

J:  I like to cook, but I LOVE to eat. I'm a foodie and love trying new foods. My favorite things to cook, however, are vegetables. A little weird, I know, but I love experimenting with new ways to make veggies tasty. I've been stir frying shredded brussel sprouts with Sriracha sauce recently, and it is so freaking tasty. I could eat a bucket of those sprouts. (That sounds so yummy and I usually don’t like spicy!)

A:  Do you have a favorite couple from the two series?

J:  Aw man, that's hard. I love them all the same while I'm writing them, but I think Aria and Nash (from KEEPING YOU) and Jamison and Maddie (from SWEET TO YOU) are tied for my favorite couple. I love a story where a single mom finds her perfect partner (Aria), but I also loved seeing Maddie get a chance at love after her divorce. I just love second chances of all kinds. Those are hopeful stories to write.

A:  What's the last book you read?

J:  I'm reading to judge a contest right now so I can't really say the LAST book I read, but I recently read THE THRILL OF IT by Lauren Blakely and it was awesome. I highly recommend it.

A:  Who's your favorite author?

J:  I can't pick just one. There have been too many authors who have touched me at different points in my life. It would feel like a betrayal to pick just one.

A:  What's your favorite drink?

J:  A tie between red wine and coffee (though if I had to pick one beverage for life it would be water, of course. I drink a ton of water.)

A:  What's next after the 'Fire and Icing' series ends?

J:  I'm not sure! I'm torn between two ideas, but I know I'm going to step away from Summerville for a bit. I think I'll have to ask my soon-to-form street team what they'd like to read most and go from there.

A:  Last question. Do you have a favorite book boyfriend?

J:  I actually love Peeta from "The Hunger Games." I love that he was man enough to know when Katniss needed to take the lead. I think that a man having that much faith in his lady/confidence in himself is pretty hot.

Thanks so much for the interview!

Check out the Always a Bridesmaids books out now which I reviewed a previously and Melt with You and Hot for You (books 1 & 2), from Jessie’s new Fire and Icing series are also out!! Check below for an excerpt from Melt with You!

A Summerville Novel #6
Fire and Icing Book 1

Some fires never burn out…

After ten years as America’s sweetest celebrity chef, Naomi Whitehouse is enjoying life out of the spotlight, back in her hometown of Summerville, Georgia. She’s opening a pastry shop with her sister, housesitting for her snowbird parents, and reconnecting with her roots. Life is good until she runs into her high school sweetheart, Jake Hansen, a sexy firefighter who gives her a reception chilly enough to freeze a forest fire. If Naomi wants her homecoming to remain all cupcakes and sugar cookies, she’ll have to win Jake over. But how can she earn his forgiveness when he won’t even speak to her?

When the girl who broke his heart buys a month of dates at the firefighter’s Hunk-for-a-Month fundraiser auction, only honor keeps widower Jake Hansen from backing out of the commitment. He won’t let the firehouse down, even if it means enduring a torturous month with Naomi Whitehouse. And Jake knows being close to Naomi again will be torture. Even after all these years, she still gets to him…not that he intends to let her know it. He’ll be civil, honor his obligation, and with any luck Naomi will tire of playing small-town pastry chef and Jake will never see her again.

But as the month passes, Jake and Naomi discover some fires never burn out. Will the heat between them be enough to melt away the pain of past mistakes, or is their second chance doomed from the start?

MELT WITH YOU Excerpt:

She was getting ready to order Maddie to have fun without her and make a run for the exit, when the curtain parted again and Naomi lost the ability to form words.

There, wearing nothing but black jeans and a black Summerville Fire Department baseball cap, was the man she’d come for. Naomi’s breath caught and a horrible, excited-but-miserable feeling filled her chest. It was same feeling that had overwhelmed her when Jake had turned and walked away from her at the store yesterday, but this time, he didn’t know she was watching. Naomi was able to let her eyes linger, taking in every inch of the stunning man her high school sweetheart had become.

Jake didn’t strut down the catwalk like his little brother; he owned the stage like the captain of a ship, like a Roman commander leading his army into battle. With his tanned, olive skin, broad shoulders, chiseled chest, and deliciously narrow hips, Jake was every bit the beefcake his little brother was. But that wasn’t what made the crowd suck in their breath in appreciation as he reached the end of the catwalk and took off his hat, his tousled brown hair flopping over one eye as he bowed to the ladies on either side of the stage.

No, it wasn’t his muscles, the strong planes of his face, or those dark brown eyes that glittered with intelligence that made it impossible for Naomi to take her eyes off of him. It was the way he held himself, the way he moved like a creature that was completely at home in its body. Jake was a man who walked, talked, and prowled the catwalk with innate confidence. He knew who he was and where he was going. He was a man who worked hard and loved harder, who believed in the value of a man’s word, and never gave a woman a second chance to make a bad impression.

Year End Round-up 2013: Favorite Books from Your Favorite Authors. Giveaway.

We asked some of our favorite authors what were some of their favorite reads of 2013. There are some on here that we loved, and more than a few to add to our to-be-read lists!! Enjoy...

Hm.. My favorite read this year was Drowning by Rachel Firasek. It's an epic book and her writing style gels so well with my reading style! Plus I loved Teresa Mummert's Damaged Series!

 ~ Debra Anastasia

My favorite book that I read in 2013 was Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver.

     ~L.M. Augustine

Ummmm. Probably The 5th Wave and Out of Line were my two favorites of the year. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey  just had such amazing storytelling that I adored it. And Out of Line by Jen McLaughlin was hella sexy. ;)

~Nazarea Andrews

One of my Fave reads of 2013 is Unteachable by Leah Raeder :)

~Lauren Blakely

I'd have to go with Theft by BK Loren.

 ~Catherine Ryan Hyde

It's hard to pick just one, but I'd have to say Beneath The Scars by Ottilie Weber really touched my heart. (click on the link for a chance to win a copy on Goodreads ~Wendy)
Ottilie writes in such a welcoming, down to earth style. Her characters tug at the heartstrings. She knows how to create a slow burn of a romance between two people that readers can't help falling in love with. She blends tragedy with redemption in such a seamless and powerful way. This is a book that resonates. It serves as a moving tribute to the many injured and returning vets from Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as a symbol of hope to the ones who love them.
                                                        ~Faith Sullivan

Making Faces by Amy Harmon.

~R.L. Griffin

I would say The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher. I loved how real and gritty it was. It totally consumed me. A real roller coaster ride of emotions! :)

                                                ~ Karli Perrin

Such a good question! I haven't had the opportunity to read very much this year, but one that sticks with me is Playing the Part by Robin Covington. ️

                                            ~Gina Maxwell

I loved the Consequences Series by Aleatha Romig!

                                                       ~RS Grey

Keep Me Still by Caisey Quinn
The Best Laid Plans by Tamara Mataya
Beautiful Oblivion by Addison Moore
Unteachable by Leah Raeder
Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters

                                                                                      ~Layla Hagen

Thanks for inviting me to contribute.  My top 5 for the year in no particular order are:

1. The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
2. Days of Blood and Starlight by Laini Taylor
3. The Thrill of It by Lauren Blakely
4. God Save The Sweet Potato Queens by Jill Connor Browne
5. One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy

                                                                         ~Jessie Evans

I know it's going to make me sound like a goober, but I only just read The Hunger Games and it was some kind of awesome!  That would probably top the year for me right now:)

                                                                                                                              ~M. Leighton
