Q:
The role of parents for both Eleanor and Søren
are not positive influences for either of them. Eleanor doesn’t feel supported
(or even acknowledged) by her mother. Did you intend for Søren
to fill a paternal void for Eleanor, at least initially?
I joke sometimes my book series
title could be “Daddy Issues.” All three of my Sinners have Daddy
Issues—Eleanor’s father got her arrested, Søren’s father was abusive, Kingsley
father is dead. Søren is based on God the Father so the role he is destined to
play in her life is one of a Heavenly Father, which is why she gets so annoyed
with him sometimes for being a know-it-all or always around (omniscience and omnipresence
are two of God’s three attributes, omnipotence being the third). God the Father
is described in the Bible as being “perfect.” So in a way he’s a perfect father
figure of Eleanor. She’s sexual and romantic and wants to be with an older man
who acknowledges those parts of her and cherishes them, while also protecting
her, caring for her, and loving her unconditionally. It should come as no
surprise that “Daddy Doms” are a huge part of the BDSM community.
Q:
Let’s talk about the age difference between
Eleanor and Søren- especially when they first meet. Do you believe “age is
just a number” or that it’s a defining factor in their relationship?
Fourteen years isn’t that big of an
age difference to me. Then again I’ve been in relationships with that big of a
gap or more and it’s never been an issue. It comes down to the couple, what
their dynamic is, what they’re looking for in each other. When Eleanor is a
teenager, she’s in need of someone older to help her. She’s in real trouble,
legal trouble, and no one her own age could help her. It took her father to get
her into her mess and takes a better, wiser, stronger, more loving Father to
get her out of it.
Q:
Most of the book is told in flashback through
Eleanor’s sharing of her relationship with Søren. Had you always known you
wanted to tell the story that way?
No. I originally intended it to be
a straight prequel beginning to end. It just didn’t work that way. There wasn’t
enough suspense or mystery. I wasn’t telling a new story. The frame story came
to me after the original draft that was 100% was finished and my editor said we
needed more suspense. I love the final version because you get both the
promised prequel and a glimpse into the aftermath of The Mistress, which ended
with a gasp and a laugh. It gave me great joy to write something that no one
expected me to write. The guy who crosses the threshold and joins Nora in the
first chapter of The Saint is not a
character anyone was expecting to meet.

I have loved Nora, Soren and
Kingsley from the beginning and now, even though I didn’t know it was possible,
I love them even more!
Since I first read The Siren, I
fell in love with these characters and they became a part of me. Tiffany Reisz
created a world of people I wanted to know, wanted to be friends with and I’ve
read all of The Original Sinners books more than once.
I cannot find the right words to
convey how much I loved Nora as a teenager. She was just as spunky and wild and
free but she is also so young with so much to learn. She made me laugh and she
made my heart hurt!
Nora and Soren, they are the
perfect forbidden love! The buildup between the two it intense but definitely
not quick. I think they both know exactly what they mean to each other
immediately, but it is not something that is acted on by impulse. (even though
as a reader, the intensity and chemistry between them was truly a tangible
thing!) Which is exactly what one would expect from Soren.
Kingsley, oh how I adore him! The
first time he meets Nora is absolutely priceless! I think I read it three
times. He is the King!
If you have read The Original
Sinners series, The Saint is a must read! And if you haven’t, well go read it
NOW! Tiffany Reisz does not just write books, she creates a world of intrigue,
beauty and crazy hot sex that you will never want to leave.
I don’t want to spoil even a
minute of this story because it truly is an experience but I want to say this
is a must-read for anyone who loves Nora! The Saint far exceeded my
expectations and I truly cannot wait for more!!
