Review: Interview with a Master by Jason Luke.

Interview with a Master by Jason Luke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Synopsis:

It's the interview like no other.
It's the interview of a lifetime.
It's THE Interview with a Master.
When Jonah Noble reveals details of his life within the world of BDSM, the tale he tells is intensely erotic, profoundly sensual, and brutally honest.
This is His world. His way.
There is only one question the man will not answer…

(BDSM erotica from a man's POV, written by a man. Contains some explicit language)

My thoughts:

First of all, every man needs to come with a copy of "Jonah Noble's Big Book of Rules". In fact , it should come with every male baby when it's sent home from the hospital . With rules like "If a man understands the way a woman thinks, then both people in the relationship will be satisfied.", "Women don't want to be forced to their knees. They want to be made to feel weak at the knees", and "...women need to feel loved in order to want sex. And men need sex in order to feel loved.", it's pretty much a guarantee to make any woman all mushy and head over heels in love.

I love that the story is written by a man, from a man's POV. The series, so far, wouldn't necessarily fall under the category of erotic romance. While it's definitely erotic, and it's leading up to a romance, sometimes it seems more autobiographical than anything else. It's definitely a unique approach, one I haven't read before, but it's entirely enjoyable. The BDSM content is more of a vanilla variety- one that would be attractive to the average, everyday man or woman; it focuses more on the emotional side of BDSM, not the pain and all the BDSM trappings.

While I love the concept of the book, sometimes the narrative becomes a tad awkward. There are times that the writing flows so well that you have devoured chapters without realizing it, but then there are a few times that it becomes a little choppy and rushed. And while some of the sexual experiences come across as typical guy fantasy clichés, overall it's a very enjoyable read with some truly hot, unique scenes that I haven't come across before. I think I finished the whole book in a couple hours, so it's not a difficult, mind-bending type of story.

I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series, as it is unique, intriguing, and has SO much potential. I could totally see this as being a movie or TV show, and the way the book ends introduces enough mystery and excitment to definitely leave you wanting more!!

About the author:

Jason Luke enjoyed several years involved in the BDSM lifestyle - but he is quick to point out that his experiences don't qualify him as an expert, any more than knowing how to drive a car makes him a qualified mechanic. 'Interview with a Master' is a novel about how one man became a Master. The book is a work of fiction, but Jason has drawn heavily on encounters from his own real life. He won't say which parts of the book are fictionalised, and which parts are auto-biographical.

Interview with a Master' is now LIVE and available for download from Amazon Worldwide.
